FTC Scrimmage

Rising Through Competition: GTT at the FTC Scrimmage Hosted by Team Sigma 🏆🤖

Competition is not just a test of robots—it is a test of preparation, adaptability, and teamwork. GTT had the opportunity to participate in an FTC Scrimmage hosted by FRC Team Sigma, an experience that proved to be both challenging and rewarding as we measured our progress against fellow teams in a competitive environment.

Strong Performance on the Field

Throughout the scrimmage, our robot demonstrated consistent performance, reliability, and strategic execution. Match after match, our drive team adapted to different alliance dynamics, while our robot performed with stability and precision.

By the end of the qualification rounds, GTT secured 2nd place in the overall standings, reflecting the countless hours of design, testing, and iteration put in by the team. Advancing further, we proudly became finalists, competing at the highest level of the event and showcasing our ability to perform under pressure.

Engineering Beyond Matches: Think Award Win

In addition to our on-field success, GTT was honored with the Think Award, recognizing our team’s strong engineering process, documentation, and problem-solving approach. This award highlighted our emphasis on:

  • Thoughtful design decisions backed by analysis
  • Clear engineering documentation and iteration logs
  • Strategic use of sensors, software, and mechanical systems
  • A deep understanding of our robot and its development journey

Winning the Think Award reinforced that our efforts behind the scenes—planning, testing, and refining—are just as important as performance on the field.

Learning from a Competitive Environment

The scrimmage provided valuable insights into real match conditions, alliance coordination, and game strategy. Competing alongside and against other teams helped us identify areas for improvement while validating many of our design choices.

Hosting teams like FRC Team Sigma also created a collaborative atmosphere where learning extended beyond matches through discussions, observations, and shared experiences.

Moving Forward with Confidence

This scrimmage marked an important milestone in GTT’s season. Securing 2nd place, finalist status, and the Think Award strengthened our confidence and motivated us to push our robot and processes even further.

More than the results, the experience reminded us that growth comes from competition, reflection, and continuous improvement. As we move forward in the season, we carry these lessons with us—ready to refine, iterate, and aim even higher.
